Spouse of Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Japan, Ms. Jamilah AL-OTAIBI, hosted a lecture titled “Our Arabic Civilization” organized by the Society of the Wives of Arab Ambassadors in Japan (SWAAJ) at the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Tokyo.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Amjad Qourshah, assistant professor at the University of Jordan, who is specialized in culture comparison and Western-Arabic relations.
Dr. Qourshah focused on the richness of the Arabic Civilization and Islam and highlighted many of their important social aspects that are deeply rooted in history and have had tremendous influence on other civilizations. He pointed the positive characteristics of Islam and urged Muslims around the world to bring about the noble heritage of Islam in areas such human rights, fair treatment of women, equality and respect between religions. He also invited non-muslims to learn more about Islam and with a rational and open approach.
Dr. Qourshah also shed the light on the misinterpretation of the Arabic and Islamic cultures by the media that have shown the distorted image of these cultures.
A large audience attended the lecture from across the spectrum of Japanese society. The Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps in Japan H.E. Walid Siam, Ambassador of Palestine, also attended along side Kuwaiti diplomats; Mr. Hamad Al-Mulla, Chargé d'affaires ad-interim, and Mr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Dalah, Third Secretary.
