Aquamarine Fukushima Shows Gratitude for Rehabilitation Aid from Kuwait
On Thursday, Mr. Yoshitaka Abe, Executive Director, Aquamarine Fukushima, Mr. Kouji Takano, Deputy Director, Culture & Sports Bureau, Fukushima Prefectural Government and other Aquamarine Fukushima Project members paid a courtesy call to H. E. Mr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Otaibi, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Japan. Mr. Abe expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the donation which came as a big surprise on the occasion of the State Visit of H.H. Sheikh Sabah the Amir of the State of Kuwait. During the State Visit, H.H. Sheikh Sabah the Amir expressed his willingness to extend donation of three million US dollars (250 million yen) to Aquamarine Fukushima for the promotion of science and technology when H. H. received the Governors of Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate at Akasaka Guest Palace on March 22. Mr. Abe expended his invitation to H.E. Mr. Al-Otaibi to visit the disaster-struck coastal areas of Fukushima as well as Aquamarine Fukushima still under rehabilitation process. H.E. Mr. Al-Otaibi expressed his gratitude for the invitation and promised to realize the visit in the near future. Furthermore, H.E. Mr. Al-Otaibi sent his best regards to H.E. Mr. Sato, Governor of Fukushima via Mr. Takano, Fukushima Prefectural Government official. The meeting was moderated by Mr. Yoshitaka Nakamura, Director, Assistant to President, Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East. In addition to those mentioned above, Mr. Katsuji Tainaka, Advisor, Aquamarine Fukushima, Mr. Masamitsu Iwata, Project Leader, Aquamarine Fukushima, Mr. Akira Komoda, Deputy Director, Aquamarine Fukushima, and Mr. Ruiei Izumi, Japan-Kuwait Society were present at the meeting. From the Embassy, Mr. Mohammad Al-Mutairi, Deputy Head of Mission, accompanied the Ambassador.
