The Kuwait Amir meets Emperor

On Wednesday, the Amir of the State of Kuwait H.H. Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who is visiting Japan as a state guest, met with the Emperor, who is recuperating from open heart surgery, at the Imperial Palace. H.H. Sheikh Sabah has arrived at the Palace at 9:20 a.m. while the marching music was played by the special band of the Imperial Police. The Amir shook hands and exchanged few wards with the Emperor. According to the Imperial Household Agency, the Emperor, accompanied by the Empress, thanked the Amir for wishing him a quick recovery, and during the talks at the Imperial Palace, the Emperor expressed gratitude for the oil and other aid Kuwait extended in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The Amir, who arrived in Japan on Tuesday as the state guest, said the extension of aid was a matter of course for Kuwait, and he said he appreciated Japan’s support in the Gulf War that followed Iraq’s invasion of his country.
